After a relaxing Sunday morning, we boarded a city bus in the afternoon to Fiesole (Fee-o-so-lay) in the hills just above the city of Florence. This town was the early settlement of the Etruscans from about 500 BC - long before the Romans arrived around 60 BC to establish Florence. Today it is the "escape place" from the hustle and bustle of busy Florence and THE place for excellent views of the Tuscan hills and the city. Some of our group even made it all the way to the top to the San Francesco Church. Some of us opted for coffee and hot chocolate in the cafe at the sqaure! The weather is cool and sunny - a perfect day for our trip to Fiesole!
