Lovely Lucca - April 21

Sunday afternoon found us on our way by train to visit one of my favorite Tuscan towns - Lucca.  The city walls are wide enough and paved so you can walk or bike around its two and a half mile circumference.  Sherol biked while I opted for eating a pizza!  We enjoyed walking through the antique fair on the streets and seeing, but not buying, all the treasures for sale.  A short rain shower did not dampen this lovely experience of a Sunday afternoon in Lucca!

Saturday Evening Opera - April 20

This was a leisurely day in Florence topped off with attending a condensed performance of Puccini's opera, Madame Butterfly. We had front row seats at St. Mark's and enjoyed being so close to the performers.  The voices were wonderful even though we could not understand the words - Italian, you know!  Our night- time walk through the city ended with a very late supper and we got back home just at the stroke of midnight!

Venice - The Floating City - April 19

Kathy took a plane home today while Sherol and I took a train to Venice.  What a city of sights!  At every turn there's another wonderful photo opportunity.  Venice is the only pedestrian city in the world - no cars, no motors scooters, not even bicycles are permitted.  You move by foot or boat!  From the train station we
took a vaporetto (a floating city bus) down the grand canal to St. Mark's Square.  We had cappuccino at Harry's Bar made famous by Ernest Hemingway.  The weather was great and we had a good day in Italy's floating city.  Enjoy your tour via today's slideshow!
