We started the day with a walk down to the Arno River, onto the Ponte Vecchio or better know as "The Gold Bridge" and a stroll back home. Then we boarded the afternoon train for an hour and twenty minute trip to lovely Lucca. We enjoyed a nice lunch in the piazza that is built on the former site of a Roman amphitheater. The some of us walked through the town while others sprinted (ask Jim and Helen about that!) on our way back to the train station and home to Florence. Our first outing from the city was just fine - stay tuned!
